MIGOP Launches Attack On Gretchen Whitmer For Banishing Kids From Classrooms, Failing to Reopen Schools Quickly
LANSING, MICH – The Michigan Republican Party released its latest ad targeting Gretchen Whitmer for earlier controversial education mandates that prevented classrooms from opening, drastically setting back children’s educations with consequences that will be felt for years to come.
“Gretchen Whitmer shut down schools with the stroke of her pen and the bully pulpit. More than 1.5 million Michigan students were displaced from their schools, friends, and any sense of normalcy at the governor’s whim for months on end,” said Paul Cordes, Chief of Staff of the MIGOP. “Unsurprisingly, we now have clear evidence that students who were forced into remote learning actually learned less than their peers who had access to in-person schooling. Whitmer has done immeasurable damage to our kids. If she had put half as much effort into opening schools, as she did putting two-year old toddlers in masks, Michigan students would have been in the classroom.”
The Michigan Republican Party’s latest ad follows one unveiled in January that highlighted all of the scandals and missteps under Gretchen Whitmer’s administration that led to lives and livelihoods being ruined. This is the earliest the Michigan Republican Party has spent against an incumbent governor. Recent polls continue to show how vulnerable Gretchen Whitmer is, losing to a generic Republican and her approval ratings continuing to plummet.
