As written before, this weekend’s “endorsement convention” was nothing more than a political stunt the Michigan Democrats used to hand pick and rig the system in favor of the party’s preferred candidates. MDP strong-armed the candidates into pledging not to continue to campaign and adhere to the choice made at this “endorsement convention.” Dillon went as far as threatening to blacklist the “loser” amongst the Democrat elite should they choose to forego the non-binding decision made by rigged system. As reported in MIRS: “One Democratic insider tells MIRS that MDP Chair Brandon Dillon talked with both Nessel and Miles in an attempt to eliminate an effort from either side to pursue the AG nomination after this week's conclave if they are not successful Sunday. He reportedly explained to both of them that they needed to commit to a pledge not to continue their battle for the nomination at the August nominating convention, where the official nominee will be named. ‘There should be no sour grapes and no second chance,’ on this Dillon apparently strongly suggested to them both. Happy Tax Day! Today marks the last time you have to file under this horrible and antiquated system! Since the passing of the GOP Tax Bill in December, people all over Michigan have already seen astronomical rewards. The Democrats, however, plan to repeal the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Doing so would only take money out of middle-class family's pockets. Hard-working families should be able to determine how they spend their money, not the government. Through the passing of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and numerous other pro-growth policies, Republicans are offering results, not resistance. Senator Debbie Stabenow told her constituents that the GOP Tax Plan “…will hurt MI families by raising taxes on the middle class…” This claim is patently false. LANSING, Mich., February 6, 2018 – Michigan Republican Party Deputy Chief of Staff Sarah Anderson called on the Michigan Democratic Party to ask Elissa Slotkin to get an eligibility review for her congressional run. It was discovered that Slotkin took her homestead deduction in September 2017 on the only home she owns—a residence in Washington DC that she purchased in 2007 and still owns. Slotkin took the DC homestead deduction despite registering to vote in Michigan in May 2017. Slotkin was required to inform DC in June 2017 about her Michigan registration but ignored it to take advantage of DC residency. “If Democrats are requiring Abdul El-Sayed to get an eligibility review for declaring 2 primary residences, they should ask Elissa Slotkin to get an eligibility review for pretending to have 2 primary residences,” said Anderson. “Slotkin took the DC homestead deduction on the DC home she owns. She did not disclose the DC home on her personal financial disclosure. Why is Elissa Slotkin hiding her DC home? Friend, In the very early hours of this morning, Senator Stabenow chose to put her party over her state and voted to shut down the federal government. This is unacceptable. More than 82,000 Michigan children lost their healthcare when Senator Debbie Stabenow refused to support a compromise spending bill which would have kept the federal government open. In addition to keeping the government operating, the bill included a six-year extension to the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) which provides healthcare for children whose families make less than double the federal poverty level. The procedural vote on the bill received a majority in the U.S. Senate, but Democrats, including Senator Stabenow, chose party politics and obstruction over people and the bill did not reach the 60 votes needed to go to a final vote.
