Godfrey Dillard’s Partisan Games
LANSING, Mich., Sept. 24, 2014 – Disgraced ex-Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick embodies the culture of corruption that Michigan saw during the Democrats’ Lost Decade. As Kwame Kilpatrick’s legal counsel, now-Secretary of State candidate Godfrey Dillard attempted to prevent his removal from office – despite the public’s growing distrust and the multiple felony counts Kilpatrick faced. Dillard also sought to have Kilpatrick’s case heard by a different, more favorable judge.
“Godfrey Dillard’s record of fighting for Kwame Kilpatrick raises serious questions about his judgment,” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak. “Kilpatrick lied and betrayed our trust, and Dillard’s decision to block his removal from office shows he would rather standup for partisan special interests than Michigan families. This is all troubling, and is made worse by the fact that the reason Godfrey Dillard is running is so that he can ‘change and influence elections’ in our state.”
