MIGOP Chairman: "Hoadley is Radical Democrat Mouthpiece."

LANSING, Mich., December 11, 2019 – On Tuesday, Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats announced that they will pursue two articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump. In a sign of how far the Democrat party has moved to the radical left, support for the hyper-partisan impeachment process has become the latest litmus test for Democrats, despite its unpopularity with Michigan voters. This move is to appease the radical liberal wing of the party, which has been calling for the president’s impeachment since his first year in office, and includes State Representative Jon Hoadley - who is currently running for Congress in Michigan's 6th Congressional District. Hoadley, who has been endorsed by top progressives including Planned Parenthood and former gubernatorial candidate Abdul El-Sayed, made his first public comments in support of impeachment in a 2017 tweet. A full two years before the impeachment inquiry began. "Jon Hoadley is nothing more than a radical democrat mouthpiece. I have no doubt in my mind that the constituents of Michigan's 6th Congressional District will reject this outlandish, hyper-partisan agenda.", said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. Cox went on to say, "Representative Upton has worked tirelessly on behalf of Southwest Michigan, and we look forward to having his leadership in Washington another 2 years." More >

USMCA: Where’s Gary?

LANSING, Mich., December 10, 2019 – It's been over a year since President Donald Trump, along with the leaders of Canada and Mexico signed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). After a year of waiting on Democrats, it finally looks like that agreement will get a vote in the House of Representatives. However, Michigan’s junior Senator Gary Peter still hasn’t stated how he will vote on the legislation. USMCA is projected to add over $70 billion in investment to the US auto industry. Much of which will be centered in Michigan, home to the American “Big Three” automakers and over 100 automotive suppliers. It is also projected to add billions in new investment into Michigan’s agricultural industries. However, despite these tremendous benefits, Peters has been mute on the agreement's passage. "After over a year of waiting, I am tremendously happy that the USMCA is moving forward. However, the inaction by Senator Gary Peters on an agreement that would be tremendously beneficial for Michigan is yet another example of Peters putting his partisan political loyalties ahead of the best interests of his state.”, said Laura Cox Michigan Republican Party Chairman. Cox also stated, “It’s time Michigan had someone in the U.S. Senate who’s not afraid to say what he thinks and who will fight for the people, not for his party.” More >

Chairman Cox Statement on Republican Budget Victory

Lansing, Mich., December 10, 2019 – The following statement is from Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox, following the Republican lead legislature's victory on the budget impasse: “Thanks to the hard work of Republicans, led by Speaker Lee Chatfield and Senator Mike Shirkey, Governor Whitmer’s self-created budget crisis is over. Governor Whitmer should have never used the people of Michigan as a bargaining chip in her desire for a 45-cent gas tax. I applaud the diligence of our members during this drawn out process, and I am happy to see that so much funding was restored to Michigan’s most vulnerable citizens and communities.” More >

MIGOP Statement on Democrat Articles of Impeachment

LANSING, Mich., December 10, 2019 – The following statement is from Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox regarding today’s announcement by Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats that they will pursue two articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump: "The decision by Nancy Pelosi and Congressional Democrats to pursue articles of impeachment without the support of a single Republican shows that this process is nothing more than a partisan witch hunt. It is clear that Democrats will put party over county when given the choice, and their three-year attempt to undo the 2016 election has done irreparable harm to our Republic. The people of Michigan do not support this process, and I hope Congresswomen Haley Stevens and Elissa Slotkin are ready to face their constituents in 2020.” More >

Embattled Senator Peters Facing Claims of Illegal Coordination

Watchdog alleges Michigan Democrat, his campaign, and liberal special interest group illegally coordinated to benefit reelection. LANSING, Mich., December 9, 2019 – On Friday morning, the Washington Times reported that the Foundation for Accountability (FACT) and Civic Trust filed a Federal Elections Commission (FEC) complaint against Senator Gary Peters alleging that the Michigan Democrat violated Federal Election law. In the complaint, Kendra Arnold (FACT executive director) alleges that “through postings on a designated webpage, Peters instructs organizations with which he is not permitted to coordinate to run advertisements beneficial to his campaign,”. Arnold goes on to say, “This is not general candidate or campaign information and not in the usual format as that provided to the general public. Rather, Peters provides detailed content for ads and markets in which to run the ads based upon the campaign’s internal data and advertising needs, and provides them in a format designated to directly communicate with outside organizations.” Since the post was placed on the Peters website, VoteVets, a progressive special interest group has placed two TV buys for Peters, benefitting him with over a million dollars of illegal in-kind contributions. Neither Peters nor his campaign has yet to speak out on the subject. He currently remains the least known senator in the entire United States. "Gary Peters knows that he is in for the fight of his life, and apparently he has reverted to cheating to try and save his job" said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. Cox continued, “Due to his failed leadership, over half of the people of Michigan don’t know who... More >

Gary Peters supports Green New Deal Goal of Net-Zero Emissions by 2050

Lansing, Mich., December 4, 2019 – In an interview on Sunday with WXYZ, Senator Gary Peters voiced his support for the radical Green New Deal goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. To achieve this unrealistic goal it would require investments of $1 trillion annually by 2050. In addition to supporting the net-zero emission goal, Peters was 1 of 43 Democrats to vote "present" when the Green New Deal was brought to the Senate floor. The Green New Deal in its entirety would cost up to $93 trillion. Due to his failed leadership and support for radical policies like the Green New Deal, Peters is currently trailing his closest Republican opponent with the 2020 Election less than a year away. In the 3rd quarter, Senator Peters was out raised by his Republican opponent, John James. He currently remains the least known Senator in the entire United States. “Senator Peters would rather appease the left’s radical base, in an attempt to save himself from a primary, than oppose the unrealistic and costly Green New Deal,” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. Cox continued, “If he really cared about Michiganders and our manufacturing and farming industries, Gary Peters would push Nancy Pelosi to pass the USMCA through Congress instead of supporting a socialist scheme." Whitmer Signs on to Socialized Medicine

LANSING, Mich., December 3, 2019 – Yesterday, MLive reported that Governor Gretchen Whitmer has joined the progressive wing of her party and would now support a government-run “Medicare for all” system as long as it is handled at the Federal level. Previously, Whitmer had been an ardent supporter of private healthcare, counting some of the state’s largest healthcare companies among her top donors. Support is rapidly growing amongst Democrats for a government takeover of the healthcare system with a majority of the party’s leading presidential candidates pushing some form of the scheme. It is likely that Whitmer, who is rumored to be on several Vice Presidential shortlists did not want to seem out of step with her party, or it’s possible nominee. “No matter what Gretchen Whitmer says ‘Medicare for All’ would strip millions of Michiganders of their employer-based healthcare and ruin our state's healthcare system,” said Laura Cox, Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. Cox continued, “Gretchen Whitmer needs to focus on her current job, and fix the budget crisis she created here in Michigan instead of posturing for the Democrat Vice Presidential nomination.” More >

Michigan Democrats in Debt and Disarray

LANSING, Mich., November 21, 2019 – One year out from the 2020 elections, federal campaign finance disclosures show that the Michigan Republican Party (MIGOP) enjoys a massive 40 to 1 cash advantage over their Democrat opponents. Additionally, the reports also show that the Michigan Democratic Party (MDP) is deep in debt and burning money faster than it is being raised. As of October 31st, the MDP was $126,720 in debt, and the party’s cash on hand sits at a meager $12,690. This is in stark contrast to the MIGOP, which has no debt and holds $502,785 cash on hand. This surplus of funds has been put to good use as the MIGOP has built one of the largest field staffs in the history of the 165-year-old organization. Meanwhile, MDP’s financial disadvantage is sure to hurt the party’s organizational efforts in a state which President Trump carried in 2016. Cash on Hand Debt MIGOP $502,785.63 $0 MDP $12,690.04 -$126,720.44 "I’m extremely proud of the position that the Michigan Republican Party is in one year out from the pivotal 2020 elections” said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. Cox continued, “Michigan voters will likely decide who wins the presidency next year. With our massive advantage in both fundraising and staffing, I’m confident Michigan Republicans will reelect President Trump, flip a U.S. Senate Seat and ensure we hold our majority in the State House next year.” More >
