Peters Continues to Hide from Tara Reade Allegations

Peters Ducks Media Inquiries Yesterday, after Gary Peters ducked a RealClearPolitics report on Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden, Biden also dodged reporters from The Daily Caller who were looking for comment on the same matter. In an interview with Megan Kelly, Tara Reade - a Democrat - called on Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race. Peters endorsed Biden for the Democrat Presidential nomination less than a month ago. In 2018, during Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings Petersstated, “These allegations against Judge Kavanaugh are extremely serious. Professor Ford deserves the opportunity to have her voice heard and tell her story before the Judiciary Committee acts on Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination.” Michigan’s junior senator has yet to weigh in on the allegations against his party’s presumptive presidential nominee. “Why has Gary Peters stayed silent as more corroborating information has come to light about these troubling allegations?” asked Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. “Peters was quick to speak out in the past about these types of allegations, but now he is silent when it is his party’s nominee involved. Michiganders deserve to know if their Senator stands with survivors, or will he simply continue to be Joe Biden’s lackey?” More >

MIGOP Surpasses Over Two Million Contacts

This week, the Michigan Republican Party in partnership with Trump Victory reached the 2 million voter contact mark nearly five months earlier than the previous record - set on September 26th, 2018. The 2 million contact milestone comes even though the MIGOP & Trump Victory have been forced to switch to an entirely digital campaign utilizing phone calls to voters as well as virtual trainings in the wake of COVID-19. Thus far, Republicans have contacted over 2.1 million Michigan voters and conducted over 645 trainings, with over a million calls being made since the switch to a virtual campaign. “I am incredibly proud of the work that the Michigan Republican Party has done to reelect President Trump, and that we have done it at a record-setting pace,” said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chair. Cox continued, “Despite the obstacles that the COVID-19 crisis has presented, our team has come together with Trump Victory and made some amazing strides - placing over 1 million calls and enlisting 1,340 volunteers since the switch to a virtual campaign. Having now contacted 2 million voters earlier than any campaign in history for Michigan Republicans, we are clearly on pace to accomplish great things this November.” More >

MIGOP Statement on Whitmer COVID Press Conference

The following statement is from Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox regarding Governor Whitmer’s Thursday press conference. “It’s a shame that it took lawsuits, protests, and bad press for Governor Whitmer to begin the process of reopening Michigan’s manufacturing economy. Michigan Republicans in the State Legislature have been pushing for the governor to work with them to accomplish this task for weeks. However, just like with auto insurance reform, fixing the roads and the state budget, the governor would rather waste time playing politics than getting things done. It's time for Gretchen Whitmer to work with Republicans and end her pointless power grab.” More >

The Democratic presidential candidate is in hot water over an allegation from Tara Reade, a former Senate staffer, who has accused Biden of assaulting her in 1993 when she worked for him. She says Biden digitally penetrated her without her consent. This isn’t the only allegation of unwelcome behavior by the former vice president. For instance, Lucy Flores, a former Democratic nominee for Nevada lieutenant governor, claims Biden put his hands on her shoulders,... More >

Does Tara Reade not deserve to have her voice heard? This is just more of the same half-baked leadership from our junior senator, who’d rather stand up for Washington’s interests than Michigan’s.” More >

MIGOP Statement on Biden Campaign’s Virtual Michigan Events

The Michigan Republican Party released the following statement on behalf of Chairman Laura Cox regarding today’s Biden campaign events being held “virtually” in Michigan. “Over his 50-year political career Joe Biden has been wrong on almost every major issue. From foreign policy to the economy, to sparring with Michigan workers, Biden has proven he is unfit to be president and is the wrong person to lead our nations recovery. The MIGOP is looking forward to helping ensure President Trump’s victory this November.” More >

Whitmer Makes Political Ad Buy

If there was any doubt that Governor Whitmer is playing politics with the COVID-19 crisis, today it was revealed that her campaign arm has purchased over $10,000 in political advertising on Facebook during the past seven days.Whitmer has pushed back against accusations that she was politicizing the crisis, telling ABC 12 "We don't have time for politics and games when people's lives are on the line." However, records show that the same day she made that statement, the following political ad began running on Facebook. “Today, Gretchen Whitmer got caught with her hand in the political cookie jar yet again” said Laura Cox, Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. Cox continued “First it was giving no-bid state contracts to Democrat political firms to handle a vital public health care program. Now, we find out the governor is running thousands of dollars’ worth of political ads on Facebook. It’s time for the governor to stop playing politics and start helping the people of Michigan.” More >

Whitmer Must Provide Michigan With A Plan

Yesterday, in an interview with Sinclair Broadcast Group, Governor Gretchen Whitmer admitted that her administration has no real plan on how Michigan will move forward in the weeks ahead. In the interview, when asked if her current stay at home order will be extended, Whitmer stated, “I can’t tell you where we’re going to be 10 days from now. I can tell you that we will continue to be guided by the science, listening to our epidemiologists, but at this point in time, I can tell you I hope not. But we’re going to go where the facts and data guides us.” Yet, Whitmer has refused to share such data with Michiganders and the Governor has yet to show how the state will move forward in safely and strategically reengaging its economy. “Governor Whitmer has yet to provide a plan or show that there is light at the end of the tunnel for the millions of Michiganders currently struggling through this pandemic.” said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. “Every day has been a ‘wait and see’ kind of message from the Governor, and yet businesses are closing, and people are unable to access unemployment benefits. This inaction has been detrimental for our state. Governor Whitmer owes the state of Michigan a plan for re-opening, and she needs to work with the Legislature to get it done.” More >

MIGOP Statement on Lawsuit Against Whitmer’s Emergency Powers

The Michigan Republican Party released the following statement on behalf of Chairman Laura Cox regarding today’s announcement from the Michigan Legislature that they would be filing a lawsuit challenging Governor Whitmer’s emergency powers. “Today Majority Leader Shirkey and Speaker Chatfield have taken a stand for the Michigan Constitution and the system of checks and balances our state and nation are built on. No single person, despite their intentions, should be given unilateral power over our state indefinitely. The time has come for the Governor to work with the Legislature to get our state through this crisis. After all, Michigan’s other governors have handled every other crisis in that fashion since our state’s founding.” More >

Nessel Endorses Biden

Today, Attorney General Dana Nessel endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden for the Democrat Presidential Nomination. Biden has recently come under scrutiny for allegedly sexually assaulting one of his staffers when he was a member of the US Senate. In 2018, while running for Michigan Attorney General – Nessel asserted that Justice Brett Kavanaugh was unfit to serve on the Supreme Court due to the misconduct alleged by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. “Dana Nessel, much like many other women in the Democrat party, is willing to overlook these serious allegations simply because it would hurt Joe Biden’s chance at the presidency.” said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman “The double-standard within the Democrat party is incredibly troubling. A party that claims its brand is about ‘advocating for women’ is now showing its true colors. Whether it be ignoring the sexual misdeeds of Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, or now Joe Biden, the Democrat party simply does what is politically expedient.” More >
